Mark 9 : 36 - 37 Then He took a little
child and set him in the midst of them. And when He had taken him
in His arms, He said to them "Whoever receives one of these
little children receives Me; and whoever receives Me, receives not
Me, but Him who sent Me." Ephesians
1: 4,5 …Just as He chose us in Him before the foundation of
the world, that we should be holy and without blame before Him in
Love, having predestined us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ
to Himself, according to the good pleasure of His will ...
Orphans are victims of circumstances over which they have no control.
Usually he or she has left the home environment they knew for a
totally different environment that is, at times, lacking in compassion,
love and care for the children and their welfare. Frequently the
events that led to the break up of their natural home tends to cause
children great emotional trauma. All children need to know they
are accepted, that their own personalities are respected and that
they are really wanted in the group in which they live. Many orphans
have suffered outright rejection by their parents. They also face
rejection by many in their society that view them as second-class
citizens. Another basic need of the child is security. Whatever
the immediate reason may be, a change from the known to the unknown
tends to make a child feel insecure. Children need to have satisfying
relationships with adults before he or she can adequately grasp
the idea of God as a loving Father. The
needs of orphaned children for physical care, is obvious. They
are expected to need food, clothing, shelter and medical care.
There are social and spiritual values also closely related to
physical care of children. Children need adults to give them confidence
in their friendship and ability to help them with solutions to
their problems. Adults have to have the ability to provide not
only for the material but also the social and spiritual needs
of the children. Many orphanages do not have enough staff members
to give children the quality individual time that they need to
learn to interact with adults.
These orphans face a future that is fraught
with uncertainty. They need Christians to pray for them and provide
for their needs as adoptive parents that will enable them to grow
into God-fearing adults. There are many avenues of adoption available
to people. Make no mistake, these options are costly, but these
are children of God and therefore they are not cheap! God, through
Jesus Christ expressed many times in the New Testament how important
children are to the Kingdom of God. As Christians in the most
affluent country in the world, we should be making every effort
to provide a home for needy children from around the world. Needy
Feet Ministries attempts to provide information and references
to organizations and resources that will help you to be informed
of the adoption process in Russia and the United States.
Doctor Dennis Rainey of the radio broadcast
"Family Life Today", made these comments at Moody Bible
Institutes "Founder's Week" in February of 2003, that
Christians need to become "Pro-Adoption". His reason
for saying such a thing ? Are we not adopted into the Kingdom
of Heaven ? Ephesians 1:5 says "… having predestined
us to adoption as sons by Jesus Christ to Himself, according to
the good pleasure of His will …" In 1 John 3:2, we
are told " Beloved, now we ARE children of God." As
children of God we should always keep in mind that the Lord reminds
us in Mark 9:36 & 37 that "Whoever receives one of these
little children in my name receives Me and whoever receives Me,
receives not Me but Him who sent Me".
